POLYMORF
Thursday, November 26 – Saturday, November 28, 2026 | 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Het Koepeldistrict 2, Nassausingel 26, Breda
An immersive project by the Breda-based design collective POLYMORF that brings you closer to the invisible world inside your own body through groundbreaking gastronomic experiences for your skin, your gut, and your brain.
In Plural Tastings, you sit down for a meal with the microbes on your skin; Haute Cuisine for the Rectum nourishes your microbiome with bites, served in a special way and tailored to the 'flavor palette' of your gut flora; and Living Memories (which will officially premiere in 2027) serves as a cocktail bar for your brain.
A collaboration between POLYMORF and Studio Biarritz with Anja Lok (Amsterdam UMC), Bart Hess, and Karpendonkse Hoeve. Original oncept developed by POLYMORF in collaboration with Hazal Ertürkan.
Supported by: Creative Industries Fund NL, Film Fund NL, Regieorgaan SIA, TURF x Brabant C, IDFA DocLab | Shared Realities program (CIIIC), ABC grant (Amsterdam Brain and Cognition).
The Microbiome Restaurant can be visited for three days during TURF in the Koepeldistrict, and consists of the following experiences:
Plural Tastings
Humans are not autonomous individuals, but ecosystems of bacteria, fungi, viruses, archaea, and protozoa. Set inside a human-sized petri dish, the VR experience Plural Tastings lets you meet some of the symbiotic life forms that live in and on your body. You are both a guest at the table and the meal itself.
Duration: 20 min
Haute Cuisine for the Rectum
Future medicine might be administered in a restaurant. Haute Cuisine for the Rectum offers a speculative dining experience for holobionts, designed to influence mental health and emotional wellbeing through carefully selected strains of probiotics, fibres and other prebiotics. By deliberately introducing beneficial microbes, the gut microbiome can be transformed into a more biodiverse and resilient ecosystem, one that helps its host take an active role in shaping their emotional life and stability. Curious to fully embrace this world-exclusive culinary experience, where dishes are served both orally and rectally? Reserve your table now.
The exhibition is free to visit during opening hours. A ticket is required for the special performance.
Duration: 45 min / Exhibition: running continuously
